I'm so glad I left before that was an issue for me. The idea of no sex before marriage is dangerous as it leads to mistakes like that, not that being in the religion would have stopped me doing it

speaking to two jw's, separately and days apart, they both weaved in to the conversation the phrase " it is the true religion " .. now in neither case was it possible for me to do my usual thing, piling in with both guns blazing and pointing out that it is impossible for there to be any such thing as "the true religion", unless by "truth" you mean that which is true in your opinion and not supported by facts or reality etc etc.
my question is : is this mere coincidence, or has there been an article or something telling them to say this ?
if there is, could someone point me to it ?

i would simply ask them--"how do you know"? see where it leads...if anywhere.
oh--by the way.."we just know" doesnt count.

my boyfriend, who is a disfellowshipped jehova's witness, asks me to study the bible for 3 months or he won't marry me (i'm a muslim woman).
he loves me and really wants to marry me but he is doing a passive blackmailing: if i don't study for 3 months, 1 time per week, in my home country, and without him, there will be no marriage... as a muslim, i believe the bible is god's word so i look at the bible from time to time and would be happy to study with him.
but the fact that he is kind of saying "study the bible or bye bye no marriage" is really hurtful.
what Dubstepped said---but add to it--kids ! 2 of mine have totally shunned me for 30+ years now--i was never invited to their weddings----never met their children. can you imagine that!

ma got religion when i was about 10. i was taken to a few meetings--and had a study with the pink paradise cartoon book.
baptised at 14
used to answer up a lot at meetings--went door knocking mostly on my own.
left school at 15
at an assembly, listened to DO Ron Drage banging on about pioneering for teenagers.
vacation pio for 6 months at 16.
met my born in girlfriend at an assembly when i was17. moved to her congregation.
pioneered again aged 19-20. became a servant at that time--magazines and territory
doing public talks home and away.
married at 20--usual reason--to have intercourse.
packed in pioneering at 21. having serious issues being a dub. stopped pretty well all activity. moved to another area at 23--and took the opportunity to quit.
resigned at 23.
occasional sunday attendance to keep the wife happy. hated it.
divorced at 33. no futher connection to the cult. that was in 1981.

be honest with yourself here--are you marrying him to get a visa ?
some doubt about the bible completely, some partially.
what if the bible turns out to be a product of humans, nothing divine.
would you still believe in a creator?.
i regard the bible as a sort of instruction manual for some long defunct piece of useless machinery.
